What to Bring
We know residential students are anxiously awaiting the start of NYU Precollege and we want to help you during this process!
Our first piece of advance is only pack what you need! There is no storage space outside of your assigned room. There is space for storage in the closet, dresser, and under the bed only. Keep that in mind as you pack! You don't want too much stuff.
Furnishings
Each room is furnished with an extra-long twin bed, desk, desk chair, and storage space for clothing for each student. Personal furniture may not be added. If a student requests or requires special furniture to accommodate a disability, a written request must be received by the Office of University Programs at [email protected] no later than June 15.
Bedding/Linens
Each student is provided a long (80 inch) twin flat and fitted sheet, blanket, bedspread, pillow, towel, and washcloth. There are a few department stores in the area if you would like to purchase extra or personal linens as well! Ask your program assistant when you move in for suggestions about places to shop for supplies.
Computers
Residents may bring their own computers or use computers available in Weinstein, Bobst Library, and other computer labs on campus. Weinstein has WiFi connection in its student lounges. There is no WiFi access in individual residence hall rooms. All rooms have high-speed Ethernet computer connections. Students should bring their own Ethernet cords in order to be able to connect to the internet. You may bring your own Ethernet cord or purchase one from a local hardware or computer store. Please do not bring your own router (wireless or otherwise) as this causes network complications in the residence hall.
What NOT to Bring
Please take a moment to review the list of items that are not allowed in Weinstein during the duration of NYU Precollege. These rules apply to all students staying in NYU housing.
