Sunday is move-in day! Students may move-in beginning at 9:00 a.m. We ask that all students try to move-in no later than 3:00 p.m. This will give you enough time to set-up your room and get to know your roommate before student orientation at 5:00 p.m. All students will be escorted to orientation by their P.A.s.
Directions to Weinstein Hall and Parking
All NYU Precollege students will be living in Weinstein Hall at 5-11 University Place. Weinstein is located on University Place between Waverly and 8th Streets. University Place is a one-way street going north, so it is best to approach the building from the south if you are driving.You will be able to temporarily park your car for unloading only. You will want to unload your stuff as quickly as possible so you do not block traffic and so you can move on and allow other students to drive up. Families should not leave their cars unattended.
After you have unloaded, you may park in the neighborhood on the street or in a parking garage. A list of local parking garages is online.Check-InStudents will be able to check-in while their families unload their cars. Be sure to bring a valid government-issued photo ID or NYUCard with you. You will need to show ID in order to get your keys.Family Member AccessFamily members and guests assisting students with move-in can get a guest pass from the Public Safety desk in the Weinstein lobby. This pass will be valid for access to the building until 5:00 p.m.A team of staff will be available to help direct you on move-in day. It will be a busy and fun day! The United States Department of Homeland Security requires that all students entering the United States with an F-1 or J-1 visa report their arrival to NYU. The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) is holding a check-in workshop to help all international students meet this requirement. Precollege FormsAny student who has NOT already submitted the NYU Precollege forms should do so as soon as possible. You cannot participate in NYU Precollege if you do not submit forms. Forms are online in the NYU Precollege Handbook. All forms should be submitted together as one pdf attached to an email to [email protected] or as one fax to 212-995-4642.If you have already submitted your forms to the Office of University Programs, great! You are set and can disregard this reminder!Student Account BalancesIt is a good idea to double check your student account balance on NYUHome before arriving on campus to make sure all charges are paid and your account is settled. Precollege Talent ShowGet out your tap shoes and juggling balls! We will be having a talent show for Precollege, and we want as many participants as possible (that means you!). If you wish to bring props or materials for an act, don't forget to pack them. That is, just as long as they are not on the list of what not to bring.
Orientation is more than a way to learn more about the program--what will be available to you while on campus and what is expected of you as an NYU summer student--it is a great opportunity to meet your fellow students and the Precollege staff! We will be covering a great deal of important information, so orientation is mandatory for all NYU Precollege students. Parents are also welcome but are not required to attend.

The Office of Summer Housing will be emailing residential students with pre-arrival information in the next few days. Keep an eye on your email! This email will include basic information about check-in on Sunday, July 1, instructions on how you can submit your NYUCard ID photo online via your housing application in NYUHome, and information about room assignments (if available).
Please note that room assignments may change between now and move-in day. The room assignment you will receive now, and any roommate information that may be included, may not be final.

The Office of University Programs is joined by Weinstein Hall and a wonderful group of Program Assistants (PAs) who help make NYU Precollege an amazing experience! Residential and commuter students will interact with the PAs and Weinstein staff each day of the program. This is just an introduction to some of the wonderful people you will meet this summer!
Josh Hartman- Josh is the Residence Hall Director of Weinstein Hall. Josh is a native New Yorker (from Long Island) who returned to the great city after receiving his Bachelors in Philosophy and Anthropology, Masters in Higher Education Administration, and Post-Masters degree as an Education Specialist from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Weinstein's staff, Josh worked at George Washington and Darmouth College. Josh's fun fact is "I know how to fly a plane."
Bri Mathew- Bri is the Residence Hall Assistant Director of Weinstein Hall. Bri is originally from Chicago and joined NYU after receiving her Bachelors in Applied Psychology from the University of Illinois (Chicago) and her Masters in Higher Education Administration, with a Student Affairs focus, from Loyola University-Chicago. Bri's fun fact is "I sing professionally!"
Lindsay Strasser- Lindsay is a Psychology major and Literature and Educational Theatre minor from Rockland County, New York. Lindsay’s fun fact is: "My favorite thing to do in New York City is student rush Broadway shows."
Nathaniel Leach- Nathaniel (aka Natty) is a proud graduate of Steinhardt's Media, Culture, and Communication program. (Congrats, Natty!) Natty comes to NYU from Philadelphia, and his fun fact is: “I’ve been to every continent except Antarctica."
Lili Johnson- Lili comes to NYU from Amherst, MA and is a proud graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in Social and Cultural Analysis. Lili's fun fact is: "I know how to make stain glass windows."
Kate Macina- Kate is majoring in Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and minoring in Italian and Media, Culture and Communication. Originally from Northport, Long Island, Kate's fun fact is: "I lived in Abu Dhabi last year as an RA at NYU's portal campus."
Shelby Sampsel- Shelby is from Toledo, Ohio! She is a student in Gallatin majoring in “The Psychology of the Narrative in Our Society.” She is minoring in French. Fun fact: I have written over 30 pages about Stephanie Meyer's Twilight in academic papers during my time at NYU."
Charlotte Evans- Charlotte is from Bedford, New Hampshire and is currently majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Chinese in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Charlotte’s fun fact is: "I have lived, worked, and studied in Spain, Italy, and China!”
Sinead Persaud- Sinead just graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts from the Film and Television program. (Yay!) Sinead joins us from Massachusetts and her fun fact is: “I am a black belt in Karate."
John Grady- John is majoring in Public Health in Steinhardt! Coming to us from Cleveland, Ohio, John's fun fact is: "I was in a hip-hop video back home."
Jeremy Hissong- Jeremy is a rising Junior at NYU Steinhardt majoring in Music Technology and planning to minor in Web Programming/Applications at the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Jeremy is also representing Long Island! Fun fact: "I play five different musical instruments!"
Asma Imam- Asma is from Voorhees, New Jersey and is majoring in Politics and minoring in Economics. Fun fact: "I love baking, especially cupcakes! I've collected and tried about 100 different cupcakes recipes." (YUM!)
Cody Galluccio- Cody was born in New York but raised in the fun and sun of Florida. He is currently working on his degree in Marketing at the Stern School of Business. He is thinking about adding Statistics to his major as well. For a fun fact, Cody says, "I was the captain of the drumline and percussion section of my high school band."
Scherry Elleshk- Scherry was born in the United States, but is of Egyptian and Peruvian decent. She is a current junior in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), studying politics and on the pre-med track. Scherry's fun fact is "I've been to the pyramids of Egypt 9 times!"

Getting to NYUDirections on how to get to NYU are online. There is no NYU transportation service to bring you to NYU from the local airports (LaGuardia, JFK, or Newark Liberty). You are responsible for transportation from the airport to NYU. There are many ways to get from the airport to campus including buses and trains. The easiest way to get to campus is to use a taxi. If you use a taxi, be sure to get one from an official airport taxi stand. DO NOT accept a ride from an unauthorized taxi driver! NYU CampusNYU's interactive campus map allows you to identify where all NYU Buildings are located. Residential students will be living in Weinstein Hall on University Place.

Now that you have identified your class buildings, you know the distance from Weinstein Hall to class to the subway stations and to Bobst Library! Most students walk around campus to get from place to place, but you can also utilize the NYU bus system. Limited E bus service will be available between Union Square and Washington Square during the summer. Students must show their NYU ID cards to use the bus.

MetroCards
To use public transportation in the city, students must purchase MetroCards. One ride on a bus or subway is $2.25, but you can receive discounts when you buy a MetroCard with multiple rides. Students will be responsible for obtaining their own MetroCards. You may purchase your Metrocard from vending machines in any subway station. The standard MetroCard costs $4.50 and allows two entrances or "rides" on the subway. For more information about MetroCards, please visit the MTA website.
Please note: Transportation is not included in the cost of Precollege activities. To participate in any Precollege activity taking place off-campus, students must have their own MetroCards.

For commuter students travelling to NYU's campus, please become familiar with the mode of transportation and route that is most efficient from your home.
